The end!?
Whoa. I cannot believe it is almost the end of the year! This is my last week with the kids and I am in shock! Where did this year go?! I feel like it flew by...and then I remember all of the days where I drove home, crying* to Paul about how "I wish the year would just end alreadyyyy!" haha... Anywoo- the days are all shortened by 2 hours for the rest of this week, so classes are only an hour long (instead of 1hr 30m), and I have already given my final :) So now, it is just a waiting game...
We are moving back to Pittsburgh next weekend and both Paul and I are stressing out about having to move AGAIN. After the moving back week, we are going to be travelling down to Savannah, GA for a few days to kick back in the sun and visit with my bro, sis and dad. Yay for vacations!
*Literally crying...

Red velvet cupcakes I made for the staff party...
Side Note: I can't believe I am going to a 'Teacher Party' ...that is so weird! I still feel like I should be a student, getting freaked out that the teachers are having a party!! haha

I made somethingggg
I made a necklace like this one. This is how...
Second. Blow bubbles at sweet little monkeys.
Here is the fabric I bought a few months ago when JoAnn's was having a closeout sale. The ribbon I bought on sale too- I glued the ends into a loop.
Then...get a pearl stuck on the needle...have husband rip it off since you may stab your finger or have some other horrible disaster happen.

Happier News.
My seniors graduated!
Our school made a huge fuss about this years graduation since it was the first graduating class of North Point High School. It went well, except us teachers had to be there until 10 at night, then back on Wednesday, in the early morning...blah. There was also a bit of a crowd issue...but hey- you win some, you lose some...

Sad...
Today was a very sad day at work. It went like this:
I woke up and struggled to get ready for my 'B-day' (my least favorite of my 2 rotations of classes). I finally got out to my car and realized...Ugh, I forgot to put on deodorant ...ran back upstairs to fix that slightly important detail. Got to school and settled into my storageclosetforanoffice. Made myself a cup of tea, shut my door and got mentally ready for my first crazy class of the day (I have a lot of competing personalities in that class which always make for an interesting morning...). There was a knock on the door- one of my students inviting me to come with her to meet a congressman that she is having lunch with on Monday. She won a contest for her self-portrait she did in my class and was selected to meet a congressman. "That was nice of her..." I thought. The bell rang, time to go.
I got to my first class and started a review for the art final next week, my students kept talking...at least they weren't arguing...Made it through my powerpoint of artist slides- Seurat. Passed out their project paper and they got to work.
The principal came over the speakers at 9:14, "Teachers, check your email accounts for an important email I just sent out- carry through with the instructions. Thank you."
Oh Crap. The kids knew something was up...I checked my email...
Please read to the class at 9:20...a 10th grader...found dead...unsure of cause...offer help to students...send to counselors if needed. I am shaking. I have 4 minutes until I have to tell thirty 14-16 year olds that their friend, their peer, is dead and I don't know why...
"What is it Mrs. Haggerty?? Why cant you tell us yet?"
"I will tell you in a couple of minutes, keep working on your project."
"Is it bad??"
"Yes...I will tell you soon. Please don't worry."
It is 9:19...I have to do this...
I read them the letter I was instructed to read. I tried to be calm. I read the name of the student. I could hear the sighs, the oh-no's, the tears. Some kids got their yearbooks out to see if they knew the student. I looked around to survey how they were handling it. I saw tear stained cheeks. Kids who are normally outgoing, sitting with their heads down. Crying. Whispers could be heard. Talking about the possibility of drugs...suicide...
After I got through that class and left for my office, I saw kids clumped throughout the hall, holding each other. Administration coming though to get kids who were too upset to go to class. I walked to the office. The counseling office was filled, kids with red, swollen faces were waiting for parents to come get them.
The rest of the day was very somber.

This is one of those days where I can feel the weight of my job...I am so sad that I had to tell the kids about this...they are so young and shocked about the reality and fragility of life...Sorry guys...

Chemical Warfare
So...I woke up this sunny morn, put on my new dress, and then headed to the park and then the to my local grocery store. I got some new cleaner at the store since I have been trying to get this place in ship-shape for the move next month. I decided to get a nice, all-in-one cleaner so that I can clean up the kitchen, bathroom, etc with one bottle. So, Paul and I picked out this bottle of Lysol 4-in-1 cleaner...Here is what followed...
My new dress (that I was wearing) looked sort-of like this...
but then...
I was cleaning...
got a drip of the cleaner on my brand new dress...
ignored the fact that some cleaner got on my brand new dress...
did I mention, this was my brand new dress?
Looked down a few minutes later...
noticed like, 5 large hot pink spots on my purple dress...
hung up the dress and sprayed it some more to try and make it look like I did it on purpose...
Dress now
What makes this day even more interesting (and chemically filled) is that I am also highlighting my hair and painting my nails. So, yeah, my apartment smells like a indoor high school pool, with the swim team painting their nails...weird right?
I am gonna go rinse my hair now.
AIR-NESSSSS!
A couple days ago, Paul got in touch with a good friend from high school who had moved down to VA a few years ago. Mitch and Paul wanted to hang out, and a friend of Mitch's was involved in air guitar (haha...) and it just so happened that there was the US Air Guitar Competition in D.C. on Friday. Sooooo, we set out for the 9:30 Club last night after work to catch some air guitar action and hang out with good ol' friends. We had some preconceived ideas on how an air guitar competition would be...and boy were we unprepared for the awesomeness that was about to explode in front of our very eyes...
This was Mitch's friend on stage doin' his thang!!
This guy was a crowd fav. The host introduced him by saying he "Loved everything about him, especially his body shape!"
It was pretty funny, there was sloppy flesh going every which way. Not the most flattering of lighting :) He mooned the crowd after- it was pretty entertaining...and maybe a little disgusting
This dude on the right had a US Air Guitar tattoo...he was serious about it.
"The Shred!!!" (pictured on the right) The host introduced him as being "40,000 years old and awesome" He really was awesome, it turned out that him and another guy tied at the end and will both compete to go to Finland (where the Word Air Guitar Competition will be held)
He was 80's hair band all the way!
Finalists
This guys shirt had a noise level lighty thing on it...so when it was a tie at the end, they called him on stage, turned off all of the lights in the place, and had the crowd cheer for the two finalists, to see which one lit up his shirt the most.
They still could not decide...which is why they had a final tie and they both will go now...
The crowd up on stage all air guitaring to Skynyrd- Freebird
These guys were wearing water shoes...hilarious.
