Yo Yo Yo!!!

I just finished embellishing a dress I bought yesterday :D

Yesterday, after work, I went to target looking for a sweater or nice cardigan to add fabric flowers (aka yo- yo's) too. I could not find anything I liked to save my life..except for this navy blue, simple tee- dress. I decided it would work.

After leaving target, I headed over to Joann fabrics to pick up some fat quarters to use as the flower fabric. I found so many combinations that I LOVED but I had to pick just one :( (While i was there there was this scary man with tattoos everywhere and he turned and i saw a big Nazi flag tattooed on his arm...like 6" x 8" and i his shirt said 'SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SKINHEAD" AHH!) anyways. back to the pretty things. So i picked up this fabulous set that had a gradation from dark blue-purple to light pink.

I also picked up some sweet buttons for the centers of the flowers...

Then I got home and sewed until but butt was numb, my back spasmed and my fingers bled. (choose only one of those descriptions...)

I called it quits around midnight so I could get ready for work in the morning...I was in love.

Now the next day (after work) I sewed my sweet littles onto the dress. This was somewhat complex. I sewed things through every wrong layer you could imagine. I had flowers sewed through 6 layers. How, you may ask. I don't know, i just did.

Well here are some final shots. This took me approx. 6 hours to create. That might seem a bit lengthy- deal with it, I'm slow.

Oh! I forgot to mention- Paul brought me a cupcake from Dozens to keep me goin'

Well so many things have happened since the last post...but I shall just give you an update of today, the others will come shortly.

Today Paul and I went downtown to the arts festival and met up with Lauren H. and her bf Toby (he has an art stand down there). It was a good time catching up with an ol' friend and hanging out in the beautiful weather. After we got done with the arts festivities, we went back and got the car (free parking!!!) and got the GPS ready to take us to our next endeavor, Dozens Cupcakes in squirrel hill. We made it to the street it was on pretty easy and I spotted a parking spot, so I snatched it up...well stupid me, Dozens was a good mile away, extremely UP HILL (with tons of parking spots in between...)- so, eh, we got a lil workout on our way to engorge ourselves with sweet delights. Once we got to Dozens, we were quite sweaty and we decided to get 4 cupcakes, the como, mostess (vegan), east end chocolate stout, and diva delicious red velvet ($10 for 4). Upon entering the store I realized...we had not put money in the parking meter- CRAAAP! so then we booked it back to the car, doubletime, and panicked the whole way- but no worries, there was no ticket :D We decided to eat them once we got home so we could really dedicate time to enjoying the cuppys. And baby- WE DID!!!

Can I do this everyday please?

I made something yummy.

I made cupcake pops! First I made red velvet mixed with cream cheese icing. Those were a BIIIIG hit! Pauls family loved them to death, and my mom craved them as well. I liked them too :) So then today I decided to make funfetti ones since that is my all time love. Let me first tell you that these things are hard to make. seriously difficult. I have had many issues with making them, but they are so worth it, ahh. Anyways, here are some treats for your eyes.

Chimera

Last night we went to an art exhibition put on by our school in downtown Erie. To start the night we went out with Paul's coworker and his girlfriend to Oscars Pub for some tasty dinner. I got a turkey reuben with homemade chips and Paul got the, much talked about, fish sandwich. It was really yummy! Then we headed off to 'Chimera' at the Erie Art Museum Annex. Swanky times. We noshed on some tuscan themed snacks, checked out the art and watched a couple bands perform. We headed out around 10:45...and on the way out of Erie we had the car in front of us T-bone another car. That was a little freaky- I hope everyone made it out ok... So that was our night. It was fun- Oh and Paul got to see the tickets he designed in action! And his t-shirts too! He got one for free :) they went over really well!!

Paul and I have a friend, Brandon aka Brando, from back in the day (...highschool) who just transfered up to edinboro with us. He is a photo major and does fantastic portraiture. He asked Paul and I if he could come over to our place to photograph us, we obliged. He takes photos on a film (not digital) camera and then scans the negitives into his computer, thusly creating a sweet grainy film appearance. yum. Here is a sample of what came out of our little photo shoot:

My Latest and Greatest!

I am in print 1 this semester and have made a couple interesting prints mind you. I figured you bums may want to see some?? well if not, oh well. I made my first one you see here-- a barbie from 1965. I thought she looked sweet, so I recreated her, Kaylee style!! And then I just started an art nouveau print...its going to be a few colors too, and you BETTER believe I will be documenting that :)
